Getting a Brazilian Butt Lift has many benefits as it changes the contours of your body and can result in a fabulous figure. Before making a final decision, it is important to understand the healing process so that you get the best possible final results. Let’s take a look at what you might expect after the surgery.

The Surgery

A Brazilian Butt Lift involves aggressive liposuction in problem areas including the stomach area, hips, waist and lower back. This fat is separated and processed and then grafted to the gluteal area to create the desired contours. One major consideration is to prepare for the involved healing process. After the procedure, you will have swelling, discomfort or bruising. You should be ready to be very sore the first 2 to 3 weeks following the procedure. You should also avoid applying pressure to the area where the fat has been grafted.

Sleeping can be difficult for back sleepers. It is recommended that you sleep on your side or, better yet, your stomach for 23 weeks following the procedure. Most patients will use an air cushion whenever they are sitting throughout the healing process. It is through listening to the surgeon’s suggestions and wearing compression garments that you will achieve and maintain the results you want.

Most importantly, for 3 weeks immediately following the surgery, you have to avoid sitting on the Brazilian Butt Lift area that was injected. Placing too much pressure on the grafted tissue can kill it and cause an unfavorable reaction. This isn’t as difficult as it may sound. Generally, we sit on a portion of the buttocks called the ischial spines. The grafts usually are located on the upper buttocks. Note that it is more important to avoid placing direct pressure by laying down on the grafted area.
